Obituary for Catherine L Henry

Catherine Henry passed away peacefully at Bridgeway Care and Rehabilitation Center in Hillsborough New Jersey on Monday, September 28th.

The daughter of the late Mary and Joseph Dalidunas, she was born November 25, 1921 in Fairview N.J. She was married to Louis L. Henry who preceded her in death on August 28, 2012. Catherine (Kitty) and Lou lived in Bogota N.J. and Englewood Cliffs, N.J. before settling in Hillsborough, N.J. in 2001.

She was also preceded in death by her sisters Genevieve Stenftennagel and Frances Jesuele as well as her brothers William Dalidunas and Albert Dalidunas. She is survived by two daughters, Jacqueline (John) Surre and Janice (Joseph) Coffey as well as five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was proud of her job during World War II working for Western Electric on the assembly line and also years later when she worked at Prentice Hall doing clerical work. She was a wonderful homemaker, mother, and grandmother. She genuinely loved people and her warm and giving nature made everyone feel loved and welcome. Just two months shy of her 99th birthday many people, including her doctors, would ask her secret to a long life. She would answer without hesitation, “Manhattans.” I think she got many people started on them !

Jackie and Janice would like to give a special thank you to Lisa, Maria and Donna and the staff at Bridgeway who took such good care of her.
