Obituary for Josephine S Raulintis

Stella’s parents and their siblings came to the United States at the turn of the century with hopes of making enough money to return to Poland and buy a farm. During that time Stella was born in Jersey City in 1918. Only her immediate family followed through on the plan and returned in 1923. In 1936 when Europe began to fall under the control of the Nazi Reich, she was the only one able to return to America as a citizen.

Stella would quickly adapt to American culture with a love of fashion and the movies. Her cousins even thought she was a doppelganger for movie star Maria Montez! During WWII she like many of her generation went to the factories to support the war effort. For her it also was the beginning of her love story with Charles Raulintis. While working for Westinghouse in Newark, she met Charlie at a jazz club and for the rest of their lives together they shared a love of music and dancing. When he returned from serving in the Navy in the Pacific they married and built a home in North Arlington, where they would raise their daughters, Marjorie and Elaine. In later years they would travel and continued to enjoy music. They would always be the first on the dance floor at weddings and would frequently be found dancing the foxtrot in the kitchen. Charlie died in 2007 and now we picture them dancing in the clouds.

Stella is survived by her daughters Marjorie Cavalier and Elaine Suehnholz and their husbands Peter Cavalier and Raymond Suehnholz; five grandchildren Stefanie Suehnholz Irwin and her husband Luke, Matthew Cavalier and his wife Amanda Byrant, Andrew Suehnholz and his wife Kate, Joseph Cavalier and his wife Sarah, and Michael Cavalier and his wife Kelly-May. She has also been blessed with four great-grandchildren: Stella and Lucy Irwin and Cora and Benjamin Cavalier.

Funeral Service and Burial will be private for Josephine.
