GRIEF & HEALING
affirmations to uplift & help you through
each stage of the grieving process.
Kathleen (Kathy) Tully, age 75, died on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, New Jersey. She was born December 15, 1944, in Passaic, New Jersey. She lived in Hackensack, New Jersey, before moving to Hillsborough, New Jersey, in 1980 with her husband Gary and son Christopher.
Kathy worked as a dental assistant and office manager for Doctor David Kanter in Teaneck, New Jersey. Before becoming a member of the Dental Hygiene Department of Bergen Community College in Paramus, New Jersey, she provided classes in dental office material procurement and control and dental office business management. A notable achievement in 1976 was taking on the responsibilities of Editor, Cookbook Coordinator, and production of The Bergen Community College Cookbook A Bicentennial Tribute for Bergen county. The cookbook was a successful fund-raising project for the Sidney Silverman Scholarship fund.
An avid collector of cookbooks combined with her love of cooking was the foundation of her full-service catering business. Kathy provided joy, happiness, and great food for small parties and large weddings in Northern New Jersey.
A renaissance woman, Kathy expressed and demonstrated her artistic skills in many ways. She had a successful specialty decorating cake business in the 1970s. In the 1980’s Kathy moved to Hillsborough, started her KGC Crafts business, designed and made specialty country crafts, patchwork quilt gifts for others, and provided shopkeepers with unique one of a kind special craft items. In the mid-1990’s she became a travel agent providing cruise vacations while continuing to apply her artistic energies on paper crafting gifts, including embroidered stationary. Her last artistic specialty was her handcrafted cards using powdered metals, inks, chalks, watercolors, and acrylics, embossed with blends of glitter gold leaf, gold and silver dust, and mini mosaics. Truly, cards recipients’ treasure and kept them, many being framed and used for decoration.
She was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Eleanor (Konedl) Thum.
She is survived by husband Gary, son Christopher, grandson Simon, daughter in law Carly Tully, sisters Patricia Thomas, Eleanor Verheek and Nancy Hawkins, nephews James Tully, Tom Tully, Jim Thomas, and Adam Hawkins nieces Melissa Poland, Tracie Clark, and Kimberly Verheek and their children.
