Obituary for Manouchehr Abrari

Mr. Manouchehr Abrari was born on December 12, 1928 in a very kind Baha’i family. His ancestors were among the early Baha’is who were wise enough to recognize the manifestation of Baha’u’llah and became promoters of The World Peace as Baha’is in 1800s and tolerated many discomfort and injustice as The Baha’i Faith received its recognition among many different classes of the society.

During his childhood, he enjoyed the company of 2 beautiful sisters, Lameea and Shayesteh as well as 3 other intelligent brothers, Fereydun, Zeini and Houshmand. Mr. Manouchehr Abrari was very fond of nature and decided to pursue agricultural engineering for his undergraduate studies. He proved himself to be very successful in his field and was promoted to work as the Deputy of the Agricultural Minister during his residence in Tehran, Iran.

At an early age, he met the love of his life, Jalalieh Abrari, during his sister’s wedding ceremony. It was love at first sight. They decided to get married and have loved each other dearly for the past 65 years. As a result of their marriage, they both enjoyed having 2 daughters, Sheyda and Shohreh and a very kind son,Shahryar Abrari.

In 1983, Manouchehr, his wife, and his son, Shahryar, moved to the United States as Baha’is, religious refugees. Here, they reunited with his daughters, Shohreh and Sheyda. Manouchehr showed strong resilience in adapting to his new life, and worked diligently to provide the best opportunities to his children and grandchildren. He retired after working with Merrill Lynch and Emron, Inc. Manouchehr Abrari was very athletic. He thoroughly enjoyed tennis, running, swimming, and skiing, among other forms of sports. He encouraged his grandchildren to develop these skills of physical health at an early age.

Among his interests, Manouchehr highly valued education. He always emphasized the priority of education, and to pursue the highest fields available to them. He also valued discovery, and independently discovered all the tricks of working his iPhone. He even educated his granddaughter on certain apps and features to use. Manouchehr Abrari adored History, and took pride in discovering that his ancestors were some of the earliest Baha’is, and sought this information through his own independent research. Throughout his life, he supported his family’s efforts for service. Even in his last week of life, he asked his family to show great kindness to his nursing staff, and to get them chocolates to show his gratitude for taking care of him.

In 2011, Manouchehr lost his dear son, Shahryar Abrari, which caused deep sadness. In 2016, he suffered from a stroke. He exercised diligently to recover enough range of motion to walk, speak, and eat. However, he developed weakness on his right side, and his walking had been compromised. Once again, he displayed resilience for 2 years, until he developed a sudden weakness in his body. On around February 21st ,Manouchehr was hospitalized for a blood clot and water in his lungs. His medical staff treated him immediately, and were optimistic about a transfer to a rehab facility and back to his life at home. A private room was prepared for him in Bridgeway Rehab Center to be transferred.

To everyone’s shock, Manouchehr passed away suddenly due to a cardiac arrest, quickly, and peacefully on the evening of February 28th. He died in peace, in Shohreh’s arms, as he sat to lie in his bed. The medical staff tried to resuscitate him with extreme measures, but his soul had winged its flight. One of his greatest wishes was to be reunited with his dear son, Shahryar, and dear brother, Zeini, in the next world, and that wish was fulfilled.

A funeral service as well as visiting for relatives and friends will be held from 10am - 12pm on Friday , March 8th, 2019, at the Hillsborough Funeral Home, 796 Us Hwy 206, Hillsborough, NJ 08844. Burial will follow at Franklin Memorial Park, 1800 Lincoln Hwy, North Brunswick, NJ 08902.
