Obituary for James P Ajamian

James P. Ajamian, loving husband and father of four children, passed away peacefully at age 87 on June 27, 2019.

James was born on March 23, 1932 in Hillsborough, NJ to Armenian immigrants Levon Ajamian and Zartik Sarabian. He was raised in Hillsborough, NJ and resided in Bridgewater, NJ.

James proudly served his country in the US Army as a mechanical specialist during the Korean War where he repaired vehicles damaged during wartime. His love of the automobile lead him to Automotive Technical school in New Brunswick, NJ and a 33 year career at Ford Motor Company in Edison, NJ. James had a passion for restoring beauty to antique cars with his son Ken. After James’s retirement at age 53, he enjoyed Friday night car shows in Somerville, riding his bicycle through the backroads of Somerset County, traveling to his Sarasota, FL home and listening to Nat King Cole. James was also a devoted member of St. Ann’s Church in Raritan, NJ.

James cared deeply for his loving wife of 59 years. As they journeyed through life together, the love they shared shined brightly as he tended to her every need. James loved spending time with friends and family where his kind and caring nature was felt by all. He especially enjoyed preparing for and celebrating birthdays, anniversaries and special occasions for his family. James will forever be missed and will be remembered for his generosity and his desire to always lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

James was predeceased by his parents Levon and Zartik Ajamian, six brothers and sisters, Mary Ajamian, Lucille Petrock (John), Virginia Parks (John), Charles Ajamian, Bertha Majka (Edward) and Leo Ajamian (Rosemary). He is survived by his loving wife Julia, four children James Ajamian and his wife Martha, Deborah Fox and her husband James Fox, Kenneth Ajamian and Robyn Ajamian and her husband Walter Menendez, and six grandchildren Matthew, Anthony, James, J.P., Justin, Mary and several nieces and nephews.
